There has been a "shower of blessings" here this weekend. I'm humbled by God's grace because even when "it's something I really want" God's actions to provide for our needs are amazing.
Just a couple of weeks ago a dear Brother wrote me an email reminding me that God will give what is needed. And the life of St Guthlac says as much, as do St Paul and Jesus, if I may be forgiving for the order of presentation. But I always forget - and I mean ALWAYS.
Most often, rather than walking forward (like Jesus expects Peter to do) I usually get distracted by the waves and the storm. I cry out "Lord Save Me" and there He is... hand on mine. Some times it can take so damned long for me to say it, too. NO THANK YOU I CAN SWIM JUST FINE THANKS.
That's what this "project" has seemed to me from the get go - in addition to a chance to "get out of Dodge", it has been a chance to throw myself out of the boat and, keeping my eyes on Jesus, to just walk.
I was thinking today, as I set out on the sidewalk, about Our Lord saying that the Holy Spirit is like the wind. I was watching the wind flap a flag I had hanging (more on that flag in a minute) and I was wondering if I was being correct in moving: you know most times you see the wind acting: it is on a fixed target - trees, flags, etc. But what about moving objects? Are they not also led by the wind? Or should I stay put?
Heavenly King, comforter, Spirit of truth who are everywhere and fulfilling all things, the treasury of blessings and source of life; come abide in us, cleanse us of all stains and save our souls, O good one.
My mum often talks about the wind and God.
